Surf In San Clemente is dedicated to providing the absolute best information for surfers visiting San Clemente and surrounding areas in Southern California. We have a special focus on longboard surfing, but there are useful resources here for all.
This web site is organized into two main areas: All Area Guides and Area Updates.
The Area Guides are pages dedicated to providing a reliable resource for “all things surf” in and around San Clemente. These pages will be updated as needed, but they live permanently on this site so the information is easily accessible. The Guides are organized into sub-groups based on the following structure.
- The primary section contains the Surf Guides, of course, which link you to the specific surf breaks.
- Next, we provide a reference guide for local Surf Shops that explains what to find at various outlets.
- The Food Guide provides a quick list of our favorite food joints.
Area Updates is the page that will be updated on an ongoing basis regarding local events, news about local surf breaks, and anything else relevant to surfers in San Clemente. Some will be quick news updates, some will be longer blog posts with useful information for surfing in San Clemente.
A Mission to Help Surfers in San Clemente
We surf, eat, and work here, so we can provide essential tips to make the most of your time in this beautiful town. We’re telling you where to surf in San Clemente, when, and how to get there, with regular updates based on daily conditions or local events. We also give tips on surf shops and local guides who can help you improve your surf skills, whether that’s through surf lessons or surf videos. We’re creating this in our spare time and dime (when we’re not surfing, of course, here or in Baja!), so forgive the simple design. The main goal is to provide the necessary tips if you’re visiting from out of town or are new to the area. We hope this helps you!
My Experience
I’m Ariana Pekary and I started this page because I love to surf in San Clemente. After moving to the area a few years ago, I wasn’t able to find information that was really all that helpful. When I worked in the local surf industry, I realized I wasn’t alone: many people need a resource guide when they visit San Clemente. I’ve traveled extensively through the United States and across the globe, hiking, backpacking, and camping, so I know what type of information is most useful to travelers. My goal is to share that here.
Because I started surfing in San Clemente about two years ago, I understand what other folks need whether they’re visiting or just learning to surf. What’s most important, though, is I am particularly good at research and if I don’t know something, I know how to get the best information. For many years, I was a news producer, in public radio and cable TV news, before resigning in 2020. Now, I’m a freelance writer and simply love to help people in general. I can’t shake the compulsion to provide folks with the best information that they need. So, ta-dah, here I am.
